Lead Project #2 Reflection

Project Name: Ballroom Dance Advertising

Group Members: Elizabeth Ong (almost)

This project didn't happen.  I didn't start early enough, and Elizabeth was too busy, so I probably should have tried to find out who else in the class is good at drawing, or just used clip art or something.

Cole's School Cleanliness Project Reflection

Project Name: Scrub Our School

Group Members: Cole, Anna, Griselda

This was a successful project.  It was organized, and we achieved the objective.  Nothing really went wrong.  I think the group worked well together.  I only worked with another group member once, and the other time I worked on my own

Elizabeth's Talent Show Reflection

Project Name: Grammy's AHS Annual Talent Show

Group Members: Elizabeth Ong, Arun Somasundaram, Karan Grewal, Jenny Gao, Emily Chuun, Drew Hidalgo

The project turned out better than I expected, despite it being very stressful during the actual show.
I made many mistakes during the show.  On two occassions I had the wrong mike turned on, I had to adjust the volume a lot, and I couldn't find the songs that Austin put on the computer, so we thought it wasn't there.  That caused a lot of stress and made us have to do some things last-minute.  I didn't foresee these problems because I didn't stay for the rehearsal.
Other than my mistakes, I didn't see any other problems, and the show went well.
The group worked well together, we were able to assign roles fairly quickly, and from what I saw, the members fulfilled their roles well.

Arun's School Grounds Clean-up reflection

Project: School Grounds Clean-up

Group Members: Arun Somasundaram, Nic Bader, Cole Sullivan

We picked up garbage around the school on October 22nd.  I think the difference was visible.  Nothing really went wrong.  However, there was some garbage that was difficult to pick up with our hands, and we left some of it.
Our group worked well together, it was easy to do, we just had to work in separate areas.

Cole's School Cleanlines project

Project Leader: Cole Sullivan

Project Name: Scrub Our School

Group Contacts: cole99085@yahoo.com, Anna, Griselda

Objective: Cleaning classrooms

This project requires Cole's leadership because he is initiating and organizing it.

My role is to help clean up the classrooms, cleaning tables, whiteboards etc

Cole has a form that we fill out and have the teacher sign when we clean their classroom.

There won't be big obstacles in this project.  It does take time that we could be using for other things, but it's for school, so we have to do it.

Elizabeth's Talent Show

Leader: Elizabeth Ong

Project Name: Talent Show

Group Contacts: fabulizong@gmail.com, arunmadav2013@yahoo.com, au.wendy_xd@yahoo.com, Karan Singh, Jenny Gao, Emily, Drew

Date: January 21

The objective of this project is to organize a talent show.

Elizabeth is in charge of the project, so she will need leadership skills to make sure everything goes right.

I don't have a specific role in the project, I just do things that no one else is doing and that need to get done.

Our group has meetings during class where we talk about what progress we've made and we assign ourselves jobs and make decisions about what we're going to do.

The largest obstacle for me will be taking part in the project.  To do so, I will need to make myself noticed in the meetings, take part in the discussions and give the impression that I'm capable of doing the jobs.  The big obstacle for the group is time management.  Both of these obstacles will simply require hard work to overcome.

Arun's SchoolGrounds Clean-up Project

Leader: Arun Somasundaram

Project name: School Grounds Clean-up

Group Contact Information:
Arun: arunmadav2013@yahoo.com
Nic Bader: baderade@comcast.net
Cole Sullivan: cole99085@yahoo.com

Date: October 22

Objective: The objective of this project is to pick up garbage laying around the school grounds and make the school appear cleaner.

Class Goals: This is a leadership experience for Arun, since he organized it and got all the materials for it, and told us what to do.

My Role: I'm going to be helping pick up garbage.  We will all have gloves and garbage bags and we'll go around the school grounds picking up garbage.

We will all be doing work together at the same time, so it'll be easy to make sure we get work done.

There aren't very large obstacles to our success.  The biggest is probably the fact that some garbage will be a bit gross.  To overcome this obstacle, we will have gloves.

Proposal for Lead Project #2

Executive Summary:
My second project is to advertise the Ballroom Dance class on mondays after school.  The number of students taking the class has decreased since it started, and I think it's because less people know about it.  I want to make sure everyone who would like to join knows about it, and it would be good to convince other people to do it too.  I will be using flyers or posters, and the NotAM, and when I get a group together we can come up with some other ways to advertise it.

Need:
When it started, the Ballroom Dance after school class had around 50 students.  Now there are less than 20.  Ballroom dance is a very fun activity and is a good opportunity to meet people.  It's also a good skill to learn.  I think the reason for the small number of students at Ballroom is that not enough people know about it.

Objective:
The goal of this project is to get more people to join Ballroom.  The more people, the better.  I can't force anyone to do it, so success will be measured by the amount of people I inform of Ballroom, rather than how many more people join.
Short-term objectives: make flyers, put a message in the NotAM, talk to individual people about Ballroom
Long-term objectives: get more people to join Ballroom

Method:
I'm going to achieve the goal of this project by informing people about Ballroom, using flyers/posters, and the NotAM.  There are other ways, and my group members might be able to suggest some.
Short term objectives: post flyers/posters, get permission to put it in the NotAM, think of other ideas
Long term objectives: bring more members into the class

Evaluation:
I will know the project was effective if more people join Ballroom.
Qualifications:
My previous project was similar to this one.  I created flyers.  I am the only candidate for this project because no one else thought of it.

Timetable:
I need to get this done by the end of the semester, so I should get a group together by the end of this week, we'll discuss ideas, and then the next week we'll get to work.

Budget:
We probably won't have to pay any money, unless we come up with more ideas to advertise.

Conclusion:
This project is worthwhile because some people would like to join the Ballroom Dance class if they knew about it, but it doesn't seem like a lot of people know about it.  This class is a great opportunity to get free lessons.

Project #1 Reflection

AJ Sullivan

Clean Restrooms

Group Members: Arun Somasundaram, Nic Bader

This project is mostly finished.  All that remains is to print and laminate the flyers, which is Arun is doing, and then post them in the restrooms.  When this is finished depends on when Arun gets them laminated.  I have talked to him about it and he said he will get them laminated soon, but I don't know when.  I did not know it would take so long.  Another problem that occurred was that I lost my USB drive, which had all the flyers on it.  I had to redo all of them.
Creating flyers, before I lost my USB, went better than expected.  I'm satisfied with what we thought of and what I made.
To prevent the problem that happened on this project, I'm going to save the documents on the compters, and email them to myself.
My next project might use flyers again.  I'm going to promote the Monday Ballroom dance classes to get more people to join.
